Your Taking The Papiss.....Two Dembas

Newcastle United are closing in on their first transfer of the January transfer window, but how has the transfer of Papiss 'Demba' Cisse of Freiburg for the fee believed to be £7.5 million.

Talk and rumours flew about that Newcastle wanted their man back in August, but Freiburg were commanding a fee in the region of £14 million and stuck their heels in that they needed adequate time to find a replacement, something Newcastle did not do.

Fast forward 5 months and Papiss Cisse move to Newcastle is a done deal, at half the price but why?

Freiburg are bottom of the German Bundesliga, 5 points of safety, and their main striker missing for the next 5 or 6 games potentially due to the African Nations Cup, with a maximum of 18 points to play for. By the time Cisse returns from the African Nation Cup survival in the Bundesliga could be almost gone. So instead of waiting Freiburg have seemed to have taken action and Newcastle United have taken advantage of their lofty Premier League standing and money in their back pocket.

Freiburg have sold before the players value sinks after potential relegation, and that they have already brought in Cisse's replacement in Sebastian Freis from Cologne. So come the evening of 17th January Newcastle have their 2 Senegalese, Dembas upfront and to continue to challenge for a European place.
