Newcastle United fans want praise, rival fans are quick to jump out with "well you haven't played anyone good yet"...so which set of fans is correct?
Seven games gone and as we head into another international break Newcastle United are placed 4th in the table and have yet to lose a game, even after home games against Arsenal, Fulham and Blackburn, and away games against Sunderland, QPR, Aston Villa and Wolves. Their wins have also included 2 away games in the Carling Cup against Scunthorpe and Nottingham Forest. On a couple of occasions they have rode their luck but on the whole they have deserved their wins.
The fixture list has been kind to Newcastle compared to a team like Boltan, but you can only beat what is put in front of you, and in the long run after 38 games the league does not lie, you end up where you deserve to be.
I look at Newcastle United fixtures and recent results this way.....
Look how they did against these teams last year, look for progression if any in the team.
Premiership 2010/2011 Results
Newcastle 4-4 Arsenal
Sunderland 1-1 Newcastle
Newcastle 0-0 Fulham
QPR (N/A)
Aston Villa 1-0 Newcastle
Newcastle 1-2 Blackburn
Wolves 1-1 Newcastle
Premiership 2011/2012 Results
Newcastle 0-0 Arsenal +0 points
Sunderland 0-1 Newcastle +2 points
Newcastle 2-1 Fulham +2 points
QPR (N/A)
Aston Villa 1-1 Newcastle +1 point
Newcastle 3-1 Blackburn +3 points
Wolves 1-2 Newcastle +2 points
+10 POINTS DIFFERENCE
A 10 point difference in the 6 games is a massive plus for Newcastle, and as some pundits would say Newcastle was in a relegation fight at the start of the season, only the Arsenal game would or could not be classed as a '6 pointer'. So 14 points from the 6 games is a massive plus for Newcastle and they do deserve praise, but fans should just be happy with steady progression in the league and taking points from their so called 'rivals'
